Superdesk follows content through the entire production process, from sourcing and planning to creation, editing and distribution.

Newsrooms can organize tasks, define user roles and workflows, manage different types of content and publish across multiple channels. A modular, API-first architecture also makes it possible to connect with existing newsroom tools and other systems.

A structure like that means every change has to be treated as part of a much larger ecosystem, with particular attention to reliability and compatibility with existing processes.

Fast access to content, system reliability and the ability to support a large number of users and parallel processes all matter in an environment where information is produced and published practically around the clock.

That's why a significant part of our work focused on optimizing performance and improving the platform's scalability, so Superdesk could keep up with the needs of different organizations and the growing demands of their newsroom processes.

Superdesk doesn't force a single, predefined way of working. Newsrooms can adapt user roles, departments, workflows, content profiles and distribution to their own organization.

Its open-source, modular approach also makes it possible to develop new features, integrate with existing technologies and adapt the product to the specific needs of individual media organizations.

Working on a product like that required development aimed not just at the current request, but at the system's long-term sustainability.

We didn't work on Superdesk as a standalone project with a clear start and end date, but as part of the ongoing development of a complex software product.

Through our work with the Sourcefabric team, our developers became part of existing development processes and the work on a platform that keeps evolving alongside its users' needs.
