For Gigatron we continuously develop and improve the Gigamax mobile app, which connects the loyalty program, customer purchases, rewards and the experience in physical stores and online.

Challenge
The app is developed continuously, with new loyalty features added all the time, and at the same time the reliability of authentication and user sessions had to be solved. Users were being logged out unexpectedly after temporary network problems and app updates, and the version check relied on an external service.

Solution
Gigamax gained purchase history and digital receipts, ratings for products the user actually bought, multiple wishlists, loyalty tiers and rewards, a QR code for identification and scanning in store, and gamified promotional campaigns such as the Wheel of Fortune. Registration, onboarding and the user profile were redesigned, and the loyalty program was extended to business customers through Business accounts carrying company details and a tax number. Local data on the device was protected with encryption, Sentry was introduced for tracking production errors and for analytics of user actions, and push notifications were added.

Result
Several months of refactoring authentication and the integrations between the Gigamax app, the VTEX platform and the MAGENTO system set a more stable technical foundation for user accounts, Business accounts, more reliable login sessions and the further development of new features. The external version-check service was replaced by an in-house service for version checks and forced updates, hosted on Railway infrastructure, so Gigatron has more control over the distribution of new releases.
